How to get really drunk on Election Day in San Francisco
If the only thing you want to vote on is your next rum cocktail, check out our SF picks. We also found some election parties.
It’s that special time of year when everyone you know suddenly becomes a political pundit, your phone dings non-stop with hot takes, and you’re somehow expected to be all-in, too. Well I already voted, and now I’d like to stick my head in the sand on Election Day rather than hear one more word about swing states.
Personally I plan to sew glass beads on some eccentric apparel while my friend and I binge-watch Project Runway reruns. If that’s not your cup of tea, here are some places to get really fucking drunk. And don’t worry, I found some election parties for you, too.

This rebel Halloween parade took over Mission — and it was a freaking blast
I felt low expectations for DanceOWeen because what kind of tacky name is that? Then I spotted this trailer where a girl puts on roller skates that make her dance. She goes around spreading the joyful disease, causing SF to break out of its AI spell and start dancing again.
Halloween’s not meant to be serious, and silly was definitely the vibe in the Mission on Thursday. So was drunk, raucous, hilarious, tacky, and weird — but the good San Francisco weird, not the way we use that word in the current election cycle. It was immediate chaos. Partygoers took over 16th Street, oblivious to the cars that were unwisely trying to commute, and a group of people selling sus goods on that one curbside marketplace.

The ‘Great Hauntway’ was honestly rather incredible
The Great Hauntway is touted as the city’s largest annual trick-or-treat event, with candy stations, pumpkin decorating, and a bit of music that stretches from Judah to Taraval Street. We corralled a small posse that hated waking up after the night before, and along the way, we saw many fabulous costumes, team ensembles, and a kid in a tiny Mario Kart vehicle blowing bubbles all along the Great Highway. Mayor London Breed and Sen. Scott Wiener made appearances, too.

SF Oasis seeks big money at its first-ever gala
For those familiar with San Francisco’s nocturnal pulse, SF Oasis is not just a nightclub. We’ve known it as a cultural touchstone for the SF queer community for nearly 10 years, and on the bedazzled platform heels of its big birthday, Oasis will host its first-ever gala.
The soirée on November 23 seeks big dollars to support the next chapter of LGBTQ+ arts in San Francisco, and it is the first major fundraiser since a pandemic telethon brought in nearly $270,000. That was more of an eleventh-hour plea to save the club, though. Now, Oasis is growing in the nonprofit world, and building for the future in its event titled “Creating Legacy.”

What we’re doing this week
"Walk Your Values," hosted by KQED and the nonprofit Remake, is a conscious fashion show and panel discussion focused on sustainable style and self-expression through ethically produced, pre-loved, and upcycled fashion. Drawing inspiration from Remake’s New York Fashion Week events and KQED’s "Fit Check" series, the event invites attendees to explore the lifecycle of clothing while connecting with local activists, creatives, and fashion experts.
We’re a little sus about fashion presentations in SF right now, but it’s also worth noting ReLove is part of this. That’s a vintage shop in SF and Oakland with some really great Bay Area iconic pieces. Check out our small shoutout of them from the de Young gala.
